啄木鸟，世世代代靠吃虫过日子。啄木鸟的两条小腿特别有力，它的脚趾跟一般鸟类不一样，两趾向前，两趾向后，有着鹰一样的钩爪，尾巴强韧挺直。它在啄树时，能用两脚抓住树干，这样就可以树干上垂直活动，上下跳跃了。
